With over 26 years in law enforcement, Keith Grounsell has dedicated the majority of his career to drug enforcement and leadership. His frontline experience spans every level of operation—city, county, state, federal, and international—making him one of the most well-rounded and respected narcotics experts in the field.
Keith is a certified expert witness in both state and federal courts across a wide range of narcotics-related topics. He holds a master’s degree in criminal justice, has logged thousands of hours in specialized training, and has served as a paid instructor for a federal undercover school. His international contributions include consulting and training elite narcotics teams in more than 30 countries through the U.S. Department of State and United Nations—ultimately serving as U.S. Contingent Commander overseas for six years.
Domestically, Keith has served as a two-time Chief of Police. Most notably, he led his department to become the #1 safest city in South Carolina (up from #28) by increasing drug arrests by 287% and implementing strategic community policing programs.
His personal and professional lives are rooted in purpose. He and his wife adopted a child born with drug dependency—further fueling his commitment to combating the drug epidemic not just in the streets, but in society at large. Keith has published over 25 public safety articles, authored multiple books in the acclaimed A Narc’s Tale series, and served as a technical advisor for the award-winning film Bound, which was based on one of his undercover cases.
Keith has been recognized with more than 25 medals and commendations for his leadership and operational success. His YouTube channel offers real-world insights into his undercover work, and his stories continue to educate, influence, and inspire the next generation of officers.
